No. The USMLE is restricted to MD and DO candidates enrolled in or graduating from accredited medical schools. Nurses seeking to become physicians must complete a full medical degree (MD or DO) before sitting for any USMLE step.
They test fundamentally different knowledge bases, making direct comparison difficult. USMLE Step 1 has an enormous content load (all basic sciences). NCLEX tests clinical nursing judgment at a depth that genuinely challenges nursing graduates. Both are rigorous licensing exams — respect both.
No. USMLE and NCLEX are entirely separate regulatory systems with different licensing bodies. There is no crossover between medical licensure (USMLE/FSMB) and nursing licensure (NCLEX/NCSBN).
